Kymystry
(CNA 101691)

Not all bands that come out of Jacksonville Fla. have that standard three guitar attack and if you are looking for some new music with a edge have I found a band for you. "Kymystry" is anything but a standard southern band, and even if the tell-tale Y's in their name lead you to think this is just another Jacksonville spin band, think again. When they hit you with the first notes you are set back on your heels and reeling from the energy that they are throwing at you. From the drum roll that starts this set off they are in complete control of the listener and you can't wait for more.

This band consists of Nadine Atkinson on lead vocals and she kind of reminds me of Ann Wilson and Dale Rossington mixed together. With her talent as a song writer I understand why this Cd is the power house it is. Each song tells a story and she puts her heart and soul on the line in telling each one. The band's rhythm section is made up of Charlie Atkinson on bass and Steve Shirah on drums and they are as solid as I have ever heard and play well off each other with tight rhythm and driving sound that makes up the back bone of this hard working blue collar band.

Rounding out this power packed foursome is Scott Selph on guitar and I have to say this is one amazing man. He plays sweet melodies on "Day after Day" and "Prisoners," and is also the driving sound that makes up songs like "Tell me tonight" or "Blowface." It refreshing to hear a power band with a female lead singer and Nadine handle the job with style and range that gives a voice to this bands music.

This is a band made up of four friends who are also some of the best at what they do. This CD starts off rocking and then slows down and allows you time to catch your breath and see just how multitalented they are before ripping into some smoking songs to finish it up just the same way it started. I have been lucky enough to see this band play several dates live and if they are ever in your area be sure to check them out you wont be sorry you did. This CD was recorded at Made in the Shade recording and engineered by Big Jim Jenness and mastered at Rodney Mills master House.
